Phil played in live rock bands from age 20, and spent 12 years in London managing live music venues and nightclubs. He began learning to DJ aged 22, until his love for DJing and electronic music finally took over when he started learning engineering Ableton Live in April 2021.

By October that year, he’d grasped the essential methods, knowledge and technique so firmly, that his collaboration track “Alien”, with long term friend and mentor, Ali Wilson (Black Hole, Armada, Toolroom), was released on Tidytrax on Ali’s highly acclaimed second album, Tabula Rasa. His writing collaborative credits with Ali continued. “Carcade” was signed by and released on Recoverworld/ Discover Dark in August 2022, with more scheduled releases on Recoverworld coming soon.

Something of an achievement by anyone’s standards, to be able to collaborate with such an indisputably legendary producer as Ali after starting learning production so recently!

STOP PRESS!! “Carnivalium” by Ali Wilson and Phil Able has been signed to Ferry Corsten’s label www.flashoverrecordings.com and released on Friday 24.03.23, with masses of support from Ferry himself playing it live and on his Resonation radio show!

By the time he was aged 25, after hundreds of live music performances, his DJing skills and infectious enthusiasm had him booked as far west as California, as far east as Turkey, with sets in Sweden, Italy, and hundreds in the UK under the famous Antiworld name as one of their residents. His favourite high point being playing an impromptu 3 way b2b 3 hour set with Mark E.G AND D.A.V.E the Drummer at one of Antiworld’s famous after parties at London’s legendary SE1 venue underneath London Bridge station.

Phil left London after 25 years to live in Newquay, Cornwall for a change of pace of  environment, and to team up again with his brother Dom, an equally skilled DJ. They began DJing together again, putting on summer season beachfront events, playing “beach ready chilled progressive house”, along the lines of Nick Warren’s Soundgarden label, Sudbeat (Herman Cattaneo), Stellar Fountain and Bonzai Progressive.  Phil played  regularly at Belushi’s,  The Dead Famous, Whiskers, Lulashack, and 5 hour sets of classic RnB, funk, soul, rare groove and Northern Soul for The Boathouse in Newquay.

His ability to play different styles so proficiently has put him on the same line ups as Chris Leibing, Chris Liberator, Infected Mushroom, Stirling Moss, Infected Mushroom, Lab4, BK, Dave Holmes, The Tidy Boys and Mauro Picotto.

Testimonials / what do the people say:

“With over 25 years experience behind him, from etheral ambient atmospheric chill out sets, to Balearic house, from the toughest of dance music to the hardest rock n metal, Phil picks out the right tracks at the right time to rock any party, or enhance any mood required for any event.   He can take over from any DJ and warm up for any DJ as his skills have taken him to many different style clubs/bars internationally over the past 25 years, and his live music experience as a guitarist and bass player shines through in his timing and track selection. I also love working with him in the stadio as he always brings new ideas, and works as much outside the box as in it!” (Ali Wilson – International DJ / Producer / Tidytrax, Black Hole Toolroom artist)

"Phil has an uncanny knack for choosing exactly the right tunes for the right moments, anticipating and creating the perfect mood throughout the night with a phantasmagorical set of mixing skills and musical insights... his ability to not only please, but joyously transport a willing crowd to hitherto unknown lands of ecstasy and wild, reckless abandon is bordering on actual clairvoyance. Every time I have ever booked him to DJ for me, I know full well that the audience will be in for a night of utter bliss"  (Roi Robertson - Mechanical Cabaret/Killing Joke/ London based DJ/Booker)

“Phil is a fantastic DJ with an extensive knowledge of music genres. On the decks he’s nothing short of a wizard, responding to the crowd and keeping the atmosphere on fire. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate in booking Phil for our future events, in fact we already have a few in mind.”  (Amie Bradshaw – Manager, The Boathouse, Newquay.)
