In the summer of 1988, Wayne’s journey into the world of DJing began during the era of the “summer of love.” Fascinated by the DJ’s craft at a club in 1988, Wayne was entranced by the art of selecting and seamlessly mixing records. This experience ignited his passion, leading him to dive into the world of DJing.
Starting by amassing a collection of records, Wayne frequented both local and London stores. Securing a gig at Zenon in Cambridge marked his initial foray into DJing, although the turnout was underwhelming. Despite the rocky start, Wayne persevered, eventually becoming the resident DJ at the club. Teaching himself to mix on belt-driven Stanton turntables, he expanded his network, enabling him to venture into event promotion.
Over the next 30 years, Wayne’s career flourished. He worked extensively in the UK, primarily in East Anglia and London, for chains like Deltic, Luminar, Eclectic, and M&B, as well as independent clubs. Wayne’s adaptability and embrace of new technology propelled him to DJ at larger venues and internationally through agencies like Julianas.
Presently, Wayne, now utilizing software, laptop, and controller, maintains his status as an Open Format DJ. His unique selling point lies in his ability to effortlessly navigate diverse genres. Hosting multi-genre club nights and specialty events, Wayne cherishes the constant evolution in DJing, embracing new technology and trends while continually seeking fresh challenges and venues. For him, the variety in music remains the spice of life, embodying the enduring mantra, “Viva La Musica, Viva Los DJ’s.”
